Officially
known today as "Her Majesty's Palace and Fortress,
the Tower of London" the Tower is certainly one of
the most famous and intriguing buildings in England. Built
on a site at the eastern edge of the Roman city of London
on the north bank of the River Thames, for over 500 years,
the Tower provided a home for the monarchy and a base of
its power.
JP
EDITIONS' version of the White Tower is an historical one
... circa 1547 ... at the end of the reign of King Henry
VIII. The Tower at that time included several significant
architectural features later changed or removed. The most
significant of these were probably the powerful twin-towered
Gatehouse and the smaller Norman style windows ... both
keys to the defense of the Tower in earlier times.
